BJP wants Lohani given one responsibility only

Bhubaneswar, Apr 1: The BJP on Thursday urged the Election Commission of India to take appropriate action to ensure that Odisha Chief Election Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani discharges only one responsibility in view of upcoming Pipili by-poll.

“Besides being CEO, Sushil Kumar Lohani is also working as the Secretary, Excise Department, Government of Odisha. Before by-election, he should discharge one of the two responsibilities,” said BJP State general secretary Lekhasri Samantsinghar.

Samantsinghar alleged that the State Government has made a pre-plan for appointment of Lohani as CEO and Excise Secretary for garning votes for BJD candidate in lieu of liquour.
