Guwahati, Feb 22: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister on Monday said holistic development of eastern parts of our country, including Assam, has been a priority for Prime Minister Narendara Modi.
“The Modi Govt has been making concerted efforts and is determined to establish the eastern region as the new growth engine of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” tweeted Pradhan.
He addressed a huge gathering at Silapathar in Assam where Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated oil, gas and other important projects to the nation.
“Privileged to be a part of this celebration of progress in Assam. Dedication of oil, gas and other important projects to the nation in Silapathar by PM Narendra Modi will lead to accelerated development of Assam and further drive growth in eastern India,” noted Pradhan.
He mentioned that Indian Oil’s state-of-the-art INDMAX unit at Bongaigaon refinery, Oil India Limited’s Secondary Tank Farm & Dehydration facility at Madhuban and the Gas Compressor Station at Makum will usher in a new era of energy security and prosperity for Assam.
The INDMAX unit will involve indigenously developed technology in line with the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. It will also increase the crude processing capacity of Bongaigaon refinery and enhance availability of LPG and other clean fuels in the region, he said.
The Secondary Tank Farm in Madhuban and Gas Compressor Station at Makum will ensure safe, secure and environment-friendly storage for oil & gas, strengthen energy availability and supply security in the region and support India’s transition to a gas-based economy, he added.
“Our Government led by PM Narendra Modiji is committed to make the hydrocarbon sector play a key role in facilitating ease-of-living, creating employment & opportunities, fulfilling aspirations of people and ushering unprecedented development in Assam and the north-east,” he asserted.
He said under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi since 2014, projects worth Rs 95,000 crore were approved in Assam which are under various stages of implementation. He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for championing the development of eastern India like no other.
