New Delhi, Apr 12: India reported 1,68,912 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall Covid tally to1,35,27,717 so far, according to the latest Health Ministry data published on Monday morning.
Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 63,294 new cases and 349 deaths in the past 24 hours.
With this, India has once again taken its spot as the second-worst hit nation in terms of infections after the US.
As many as 904 deaths were reported taking the total Covid related deaths in the country to 1,70,179 so far.
A total of 75,086 Covid patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 1,21,56,529.
The active cases of the country rose to 12,01,009.
Meanwhile, the Modi Government has banned the export of anti-viral drug Remdesivir and its active pharmaceutical ingredients as demand rocketed due to a record surge in COVID-19 infections.
