New Delhi, May 2: India has registered as many as 3,92,488 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the country's overall Covid tally to 1,95,57,457, according to the Health Ministry data released on Sunday.
It marked a slight decline in fresh cases as the country had recorded over 4 lakh cases on Saturday.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state as it reported 63,282 new cases and 802 deaths in the last 24 hours.
As many as 3,689 people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the highest toll reported in a day so far. With this, the Covid death toll of the country increased to 2,15,542.
A total of 3,07,865 people recovered from the disease in last 4 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 1,59,92,271.
The active cases of the country stood at 33,49,644, said the Health Ministry.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting this morning to review the measures taken amid the spike in Covid-19 cases across the country.
