New Delhi, Apr 12: Over 50% of the Supreme Court’s employees have tested positive for Covid-19, sources said on Monday.
As a result, the apex court has decided to hold all the proceedings via video conferencing and all Judges would function from their home, sources added.
The entire court premises, including courtrooms, are now being sanitised and the benches will assemble an hour later than the scheduled time, officials said.
The Supreme Court, which conducted virtual hearings for most of the last year due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown, restarted physical proceedings in March this year.
India is currently in the midst of a severe second wave of the pandemic.
India today reported as many as 1,68,912 new cases of the Coronavirus, taking the country’s overall tally of Covid cases since the pandemic broke out last March to 1,35,27,717, according to the latest Health Ministry data published this morning.
