Bhubaneswar, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced an assistance of Rs 500 crore for undertaking immediate relief activities in the Cyclone Yaas-affected areas of Odisha.
The PM has also announced assistance of Rs 500 crore for West Bengal and Jharkhand, which were affected by the severe cyclonic storm Yaas.
Besides, Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each person injured seriously in the cyclone.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister undertook Aerial visits to Yaas-ravaged areas in Bhadrak and Balasore district and East Medinapur district of West Bengal. Before making the aerial view, he had chaired a review meeting on restoration activities in the presence of Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, CM Naveen Patnaik and Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi.
