“Saddened by the demise of renowned social worker, founder of Kalgidhar Trust and Padma Shri awardee Santh Baba Iqbal Singh Ji,” Pradhan tweeted in Hindi.
“Santh Iqbal Singh ji, who lit the flame of learning in the lives of thousands of poor children by building schools and universities, established excellent ideals of service in the society,” he added.
“The death of Baba Iqbal Singh Ji is an irreparable loss to the society. May God bless his soul and give strength to the bereaved family and his followers,” his twitter reads.

Baba Iqbal Singh passed away at Baru Sahib in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh earlier on Saturday. He was 96.
Recently, the name of Singh was listed for receiving the Padma Shri award under the Padma Awards 2022 by the Government of India, for his social work.
Born on May 1, 1926, at Bharyal Lahri village in Pathankot, Punjab, Singh was MSc in Agriculture and retired at the post of director agriculture in Himachal Pradesh. Following retirement from service, he took up the work of social work to empower the rural people particularly women in education.
