Kolkata, Apr 24: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday visited the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Heritage Museum and Knowledge Centre at 16, Saradamoni Sarani here on Saturday.
“Privileged to visit the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Heritage Museum & Knowledge Centre. This historical building in 16, Saradamoni Sarani, which is now converted into a museum and a women empowerment centre was home to Sister Nivedita’s first days in India,” tweeted Pradhan.
The house was also home to thinkers, literary and spiritual luminaries of 19th century Bengal. The hallowed walls of the house witnessed many a significant events that shaped the course of our country, including emergence of the spirit of nationalism and cultural awakening, he wrote.
“Sister Nivedita worked for the welfare of the Indian society like no other. A disciple of Swami Vivekananda, Sister Nivedita played a catalytic role in the education and empowerment of women and in shaping the national consciousness of India,” the Union Minister mentioned further.
