Puri, Jul 12: As scheduled, Pahandi of Chaturdhamurati (Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Chakraraj Sudarshan) started on time and concluded before time.
As per practice, amid Ghantaghanta Dhwani (beating of cymbals) Chakraraj Sudarshan was brought from Ratnasinghasan and seated on Devi Subhadra’s Rath, Darpadala, first. Then, Devi Subhadra was carried on servitors’ shoulders to Her Rath.
Then came turn of Lord Balabhadra, who, wearing Tahiya, moved on Pahandi to His chariot Taladhwaja. He was followed by His younger brother Lord Jagannath.
Servitors carried Lord Balabhadra and Lord Jagannath by making them swing on the Pahacha (steps) down from Ratnasinghasan to Singhadwar, where their chariots are placed.
The Deities would move on Raths, to be pulled by servitors this year, to their Janmabedi in the Shree Gundicha Temple. Many other rituals, including the most attractive Chherapanhara, are to be conducted before they make the annual sojourn.
It may be noted that, Rath Yatra is being held without particiaption of devotees this year in view of prevalance of Covid19 pandemic. Only servitors will pull the cars amid a tight security system.
