Puri, May 12: While a little over one and half-a-month is left for the the annual Car Festival, all 42 wooden Tumbas (axles), required for as many wheels of the three chariots, have already been constructed at the Ratha Khala in Puri.

According to information, this year’s Ratha Yatra will be celebrated on July 1 most probably in participation of devotees as remarkable improvements have been marked in the Covid19 situation.

Making of Raths- Nandighosh of Lord Jagannath, Taladhwaja of Lord Balabhadra and Darpadalan of Devi Subhara- started on Akshaya Trutiya on May 3 and is underway in full swing now. Maharana and Bhoi Sevaks have been engaged in the car making work.

While Tumbas have been carved out from wooden logs, now 16 pairs of Bindhas (holes) were being dug on each axle.
