Baripada, Feb 10: One person died and four others sustained severe injuries as a 108 ambulance carrying them collided head-on with a truck in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Budhu Munda of Gorumahisani village under Rairangpur police station in the district. He reportedly died on the spot.
The incident occurred this afternoon at Bangriposi ghat in the district when the ambulance was ferrying a patient and his attendants to Pandit Raghunath Murmu (PRM) Medical College and Hospital in the district headquarter town here from Rairangpur while the speeding truck was heading from opposition direction.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rescued the injured people with the help of locals and rushed them to Bangriposi hospital.
After primary treatment, the injured people were admitted to PRM Medical College and Hospital here as their condition was deteriorated.
Bangriposi police registered a case and started a probe into the matter.
