While the deceased is Deepak Maiti, son of Ratan Maiti of Balimunda area the injured person is yet to be identified.
According to information, the crash took place in the wee hours while the victim duo was returning from Ichhapur on the ill-fated bike. A speeding truck which was heading in the opposite direction ended up hitting their motorcycle from the front due to the driver’s negligence.
Both Deepak and Ratan slipped off their bikes following the accident. While, one of them got his left palm severed the other one sustained critical head injuries.
Police rescued the duo from the spot and rushed to a hospital where doctors declared Deepak brought dead.
The injured person has been shifted to Bhadrak hospital for treatment.
