Bhubaneswar, Mar 27: After a gap of six days, Odisha witnessed death of another person due to Covid 19 infection in the last 24 hours and, thus, its death rose to 1,920 on Saturday. The State had witnessed the last death due to Covid infection on March 21.
A 86-year-old male of Sundargarh district succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment in a health facility. The patient had other health complications, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department.
"Regret to inform the demise of 86-year-old male Covid positive patient of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension," tweeted Health Department.
Out of total 1,920 Covid deaths recorded in Odsiha so far, Khordha has registered the highest number of 340 deaths, followed by Ganjam 248, Sundargarh 174, Cuttack 142, Puri 118, Balasore 96, Mayurbhanj 90, Sambalpur 78, Nayagarh and Rayagada 45 each, Bargarh and Bolangir 42 each, Jagatsinghpur 38, Angul 37, Keonjhar 36, Kandhamal 33, Gajapati and Kalahandi 32 each, Dhenkanal 29, Kendrapada 28, Nupada 27, Jharsuguda 26, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Malkangiri 25 each, Subarnapur 21, Koraput 16 and Nabarangpur 14, Boudh 11 and Deogarh five.
