Bhubaneswar, August 25: The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued red warnings for very heavy rains to 11 districts.
Coastal districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Cuttack, northern districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj and two interior districts Dhenkanal and Angul have been issued red warning.
As per the prediction, these districts may witness landslide and floods.
The MeT Centre has also predicted heavy rains in nine other districts for which it has issued orange warning.
The rains will occur till August 27 due to a low-pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal, it said. “Low-pressure has occurred in the Bay of Bengal seven times during this monsoon from June till today,” it added.
