Paradip, Mar 29: As many as 14 staff of a ship anchored at Paradip port in Odisha tested positive for Covid-19, officials said on Monday.
All of the infected persons have been admitted to a Covid hospital in Bhubaneswar, they added.
As per reports, a cargo ship namely ‘Yasa Mars’ had reached the Paradip port three days ago from Tuticorin port in Tamil Nadu.
After arriving in the port, all the staff of the ship submitted the self declaration according to the COVID-19 guidelines following which some of them were found symptomatic for Coronavirus.
Later, all 28 staff of the ship underwent RT-PCR test, of which 14 tested positive for the virus.
All the covid positive persons of the ship were sent to a Covid hospital in the State Capital last evening for their treatment.
The remaining staff members of the ship have been kept in isolation while the ship has been sanitised, sources said.
