Based on a tip-off on the illegal transport of bhang consignment Berhampur Excise unit formed a five-member team in the morning. With the help of Kabisuryanagar Excise unit the team intercepted the bhang-laden van in front of the local Kalyan Mandap and carried out a search.
After 15 quintal of ganja was recovered from the van and two persons on board it failed to produce necessary permit the Excise Department sleuths took them into custody.
The consignment was heading to Puri from Gajapati. Further investigation is underway into the case.
