Koraput, Jun 26: Continuing its crackdown on ganja smuggling, Kotpad Police seized 150 kg of ganja worth around Rs 10 lakh from a car near Chandili in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday.
No one was arrested in this connection till the report was filed.
As per reports, Kotpad Police spotted a car bearing Regd No- CG 16 N 6470 travelling in a secret path during their patrolling. Suspecting something fishy, the patrolling team chased the vehicle.
The car stopped near Pirinji village in Chandil area under Kotapad police station limits in the district. However, the occupants of the vehicle fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle on roadside.
While frisking the car, police recovered 150 kg of ganja packed in four polythene bags. They immediately seized the contraband and the vehicle used in transporting ganja.
The approximate cost of the seized contraband would be around Rs 10 lakh, police said adding that the vehicle was on its way to Chhattisgarh.
A case has been registered under NDPS Act and efforts are on to nab the drug peddlers, police said.
