Baliguda, Feb 20: At least two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries after their bike hit a roadside tree on National Highway-59 near Bataguda under Baliguda Police Station in Kandhamal district on Saturday.
The accident took place in the morning hours while the victims were en-route to Kurtamgarh from Baliguda in some work and the rider lost control over the wheels due to reckless driving.
Subsequently, the bike skidded off the road to hit a roadside tree before crashing.
While one Ruben Manjhi of Danungia village under Kurtamgarh along with another unidentified youth died on the spot, the second pillion rider Anant Majkhi sustained critical injuries.
Police and some local residents rushed Anant to Baliguda hospital for treatment where he is currently under treatment.
Police have seized the mangled bike from the spot.
