Angul, Apr 7: Adding to the unending chapter of jumbo menace in the State, at least two persons including a woman have been trampled to death by a wild tusker Angul Forest Division in separate incidents on Wednesday.
The first incident took place in Chandrapur village under Chhendipada forest area in the wee hours while the victim woman identified as Suagi Sethi had gone out to collect Mahua flowers. The wild tusker which had sneaked into the area in the previous night lifted her with its trunk to slam to the ground and trample.
Forest officials rushed to the spot after getting intimation from the villagers and seized the body for autopsy.
In similar incident, a wild tusker attacked a bicyclist in the same locality while he was en-route to a neighbouring village in the same locality later in the morning.
The deceased has been identified as Kathia Panigrahi.
