The Odisha DGP is accompanying the injured jawans, who are being airlifted to Bhubaneswar for treatment.
Bhubaneswar, July 10: At least two personnel of Odisha’s Police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) sustained bullet injuries during an exchange of fire with Maoists in Uma forest under Gochhipada on Boudh-Kandhamal border on Saturday.
As per the report, based on a tip-off about the presence of Maoists in Uma forest today morning a joint team of SOG and District Voluntary Force (DVF) launched a combing operation. Finding the police force nearing them, the Red Rebels resorted to indiscriminate firing in which two jawans sustained bullet injuries.
Getting information on the firing which lasted for eight hours and the subsequent injuries, Odisha DGP Abhay cancelled his scheduled visit to Koraput-Malkangiri and rushed to Padelpada in Boudh.
