Rayagada, April 3: At least two youths have been detained by police in Badakhilapadar area under Kolnara block for impregnating a girl on the pretext of marrying her and later refusing for the same.
The accused duo has been identified as Mahesh Meleka and Santosh Hikka.
As per the report, the victim girl identified as a resident of Kanabai village under Bissam Cuttack block had developed a love affair with Mahesh few months back after getting acquainted with him over a missed call.
Later as the proximity developed between the two they ended up establishing sexual relationship. However, in the meantime the girl allegedly developed illicit relationship with Santosh who also developed physical relationship with her in the due course.
However things turned ugly for the victim after the lover duo dumped him and relocated to Kerala after coming to know that she is pregnant. Subsequently, she gave birth to a child eight days ago after being driven out of home by her family over the incident.
After coming to know about the incident, the SAKHI-One Stop Centre swung into action a few days back and organized counseling between the victim and the accused duo.
After the counseling didn’t yield any result and the accused duo demanded DNA test of the child before accepting the girl, they were handed over to the local police.
The victim and her child have been admitted to Rayagada DHH for treatment of late due to health condition.
