Deputy Leader of BJP Legislative Party Bishnu Charan Sethi, Opposition Chief Whip Mohan Charan Majhi and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra have been debarred from attending the House till revocation of the suspension order, ruled Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.
After examining the video footage of the incident, Government Chief Whip Pramila Mallick moved a motion for suspension of the three BJP legislatures who allegedly hurled shoes, ear phones and pens at the Speaker’s podium today during the proceedings of the House.
The saffron members allegedly hurled shoes at the Speaker’s podium, opposing the passage of the Lokyayukta Amendment Bill.
Later, the BJP MLAs staged a demonstration near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the Assembly premises, protesting the suspension order of the Speaker.
Odisha Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was passed in the State Assembly amid sloganeering from Opposition benches.
