As per the report, the Kumbharpada Police led by IIC Bichitrananda Sethi carried out multiple raids in the religious town in past couple of days and took the main accused identified as Sridhar Mishra of Baliupara slum.
Based on the information extracted from Sethi, police took his two aides to custody from a house near Jhadeswari temple subsequently.
After arrest of the accused trio, several loot items including a gold necklace, a few pata sarees, 32 silver eyes and a silver crown of the deity along with a bike, an iron rod and a screw driver were seized from their possession, said police.
Notably, the accused trio had broke into the Ramachandi temple in the intervening night of March 24 and 25 to loot valuables of the deity including donation money worth Rs 15,000. They had also consumed biscuits and tea inside the temple premises.
