Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: As many as 1,71,705 civil and criminal cases are pending in the Orissa High Court for disposal till date and, of them, 32,908 cases are pending for over 10 years.
Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. According to the data submitted by him, there are 21,713 civil and 11,195 criminal cases, totalling 32,908 cases, are pending in the Orissa HC for over 10 years.
Similarly, 62,229 civil cases and 31,016 criminal cases are pending for less than five years, while 35,653 civil and 10,499 criminal ones are pending for five to 10 years in the Orissa High Court.
The data revealed that a total of 56,69,960 cases are pending in various High Courts of the country and these cases include 9,08,089 civil and 3,49,755 criminal cases pending over 10 years.
