Police also detained a woman trafficker in this connection.
The rescued teenage girls have been identified as residents of Mutiligarh village under Tihidi police station limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
As per reports, the woman was allegedly trafficking four minor girls to Andhra Pradesh in a bus on the pretext of engaging them at a fish processing unit in the neighbouring State.
In the mean time, a man of Tihidi area, who was also travelling in the same bus, enquired about the girls and stopped them near Randa village under Golanthara police station limits in the distrct.
The woman reportedly tried to escape from the spot; however she was detained by the locals.
On being informed, Golanthara Police reached the spot, rescued the minor girls and took the accused woman into their custody.
“We have informed the Childline officials. Efforts are on to send the girls to their village. Further investigation is underway”, a police official said.
