Bhubaneswar: As many as 40,800 vials of Covishield vaccine will reach Odisha today. The vaccines sent by the Serum Institute of India from Pune by Cargo flight Spicejet 7466 is expected to arrive at the Biju Patnaik Airopor there at 3.15 pm.
A total of 40 boxes carrying Covishield vials weigh approximately 1280 Kg will reach the State. Each vial contains 10 doses of vaccine. Thus, the vials together contain 4,80,000 doses, said Health and Family Welfare ACS PK Mohaptra.
Mohapatra said 1.91 lakh healthcare workers will be vaccinated in the 1st phase. Elderly health workers and the regions with more Corona infections will be given priority.
Mohapatra further informed that district Collectors have been informed through official communiqué to take vaccines to their districts from the State Vaccine Store after arrival of vaccines.
A message of vaccination will be sent to all persons who will be vaccinated in the phase-wise, he said.
The ASC also informed that 20,000 vials of Covaxin, another approved Covid-19 vaccine prepared by the Bharat Biotech, will reach Odisha soon.
The Home Department, Revenue and Disaster Management Department and the Urban Development Department have been asked to prepare list of persons who would be administered Covid-19 vaccines in the second phase by January 25.
