Keonjhar, Feb 19: Unearthing yet another incident of illegal mining in the State, Forest Department officials seized as many as five dumpers while transporting iron-ore illegally in Anseikala area of Keonjhar district last night.
As per the report, Barbil Forest Range officials got a tip-off on an illegal iron-ore consignment which was being sent to neighbouring Jharkhand State in at least five dumpers late last night and conducted the raid.
A Forest team led by Enforcement ACF Ajay Kumar Sahu took part in the raid and intercepted the dumpers near Anseikala and seized those after the driver and helpers fled from the spot.
While efforts are underway by the Forest Department to trace the absconding drivers and helpers, they have also informed that the seized minerals will cost lakhs of rupees.
Post the seizure of the minerals in such a huge quantity locals in the area have alleged police-mines mafia nexus in the same.
