The flattened rice was meant for distribution among flood-affected people of Bari block.
According to information, the Government had allocated the flattened rice as a dry relief for distribution among villagers who had been affected due to floods. However, the officials, who were in charge of the material, didn’t distribute the same. Ultimately, the dried food item turned stale.
When contacted, Bari BDO Sibananda Swain said the chura bags had been kept since 2011. On the advice of the district administration, they bags were dumped in the ground.
Knowing about the dumping of the eatable item, locals have expressed strong resentment now. They have questioned concerned officials’ responsibility in handling Government resources.
