Balangir, Apr 9: Taking prompt action against the perpetrators in the Balangir Rajendra Narayan University student attack incident, police detained at least six of them on Friday.
The detention were made by the special police team formed under the direction of the district Superintendent of Police (SP) after a video showing the incident went viral on social media and police took suo-motu cognizance to lodge a case.
As per the report, the incident happened on April 5 this year. The victim identified as Vihan Agarwal, a +2 student forcibly taken to an isolated place by a group of senior students and outsiders and thrashed severely over a past enmity. He could be seen kicked by the attackers to apologize to one of them in the video.
While six of the attackers have been detained in connection with the case the rest have been identified and would be nabbed soon, said police.
