Bhubaneswar, Jun 7: As many as 60 students intending to go abroad for pursuing higher studies have applied to the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation for vaccination against Covid so far, informed BMC Zonal Deputy Commissioner Anshuman Rath on Monday.
He said such students can register names for vaccination by calling 1929 and then submit required documents online.
“As many as 60 students have registered names so far and, of them, 16 have submitted required documents,” said Rath.
He said students who have already been administered the first dose of Covaxin will be given its second dose at an appropriate time. He said the BMC would also make arrangement to administer two doses of Covishield to those applicants who have not got any dose till now.
When asked how students administered with Covaxin will go abroad to pursue higher studies when the vaccine has not been approved by the World Health Organisation, Rath said that issue can be resolved at Central Government level. However, he said that there would be no problem on part of the BMC to arrange and administer two doses of Covishield to intending students.
It may be noted that the BMC has put in place a special vaccination scheme for students intending to pursue higher studies in foreign countries. For this, students have to register names at 1929 and submit documents online.
