7 fake doctors arrested in Malkangiri; drugs seized

Malkangiri, June 26: The Odisha Police arrested as many as seven fake doctors from Chitrakonda and Kalimela area in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Saturday.

The police also seized huge quantity of medicines worth in lakhs of rupees from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Sashank Paika, Paresh Bawali , Sachin Parmanik, Bipin Chandra Naik, Biswadeb Sarkar, Sufal Biswas and Palas Ray.

Acting on a tip off, Chitrakonda Police and Kalimela Police conducted separate raids at several villages under their respective police station limits today following which the three fake doctors from Kalimela area and four from Chitrakonda area have been arrested.

According to the police sources, the accused persons have been carrying out medical practices in the tribal dominant district without possessing an MBBS degree or the required licence for the same, endangering the lives of innocent people in the region.

Separate cases have been registered at Chitrakonda and Kalimela Police Stations under several sections of IPC in this connection.
