Sundergarh, Feb 19: Tightening the noose around the necks of illegal drug traders, Sundergarh Police has seized a car carrying over 70 kg ganja by conducting a raid last night.
At least four persons including a woman have been taken into custody during the crackdown. Their identity is yet to be revealed by police.
As per the report, Sundergarh Town Police got a tip-off on the ganja consignment which was being sent from Umerkote area of Nabarangpur district to Mathura in Uttar Pradesh late in the night and carried out the raid.
After chasing a Maruti Suzuki car bearing registration number-HR 51 AW 9537, the police team intercepted it near Rani Bagicha bypass and conducted a search inside. During the search 70 kg ganja filled in gunny bags were seized and four persons boarding the car were arrested.
Cases under the relevant Sections of NDPS Act have been lodged against the held peddlers and they would be forwarded to court today.
