The rescued snake which weighed over 25 kg was found to be in good health.
Mayurbhanj, July 16: A 8-feet long python was rescued from a fishing net near Baidakholi village under Udala Forest Division in Mayurbhanj district by the forest department on Friday.
As per report, a local resident who had been to a river embankment to pick up his fishing net left for drying came across the reptile. The snake had accidentally fallen into the net.
After the villagers called up Udala Forest Division and intimated the matter, forest department officials rushed to the spot and rescued the python after a Herculean effort.
People in large numbers gathered to take a glimpse of the snake post rescue.
The rescued snake which weighed over 25 kg was found to be healthy. The same was released into the Similipal National Forest of late.
