Out of eight infected servitors, three are Maharana servitors and five are Bhoi servitors of the Srimandir, said Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Development Administrator Ajay Jena.
All the infected servitors have been sent to a COVID Hospital for their treatment, he added.
The construction work of chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra started on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on May 15.
This year, the Rath Yatra will commence from July 12.
The Jagannath Temple in Puri has been closed for the devotees since May 5 as the State Government has imposed lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19. The 12th century shrine will remain closed till June 15, officials said.
So far, one personnel of Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) of Srimandir, two sevayats and their two family members have lost their lives due to Covid-19.
