A special squad of Khordha Police led by Balugaon Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manas Ranjan Barik arrested the accused from their hideout located inside a forest near Old Bankadagad Palace in Niladriprashad, informed police.
Post arrest the accused were produced in the Banpur JMFC Court for remand. Police are yet to disclose their identities.
During its investigation process earlier, Khordha Police had seized two vehicle registration plates used by the MLA. Later, the plates were found to be of different owners, one being Kumar Debadatta and the other one belonging to Shibani Food Products Private Limited in Rajasunakhala.
Owners of both the vehicles have been asked to submit their original documents by April 2, 2022.
Worth mentioning, on March 12 Jagdev was heading to Banpur block office for Block Chairperson election when heavy crowd came in his way. Instead of slowing down the vehicle he demonstrated sheer arrogance and ploughed into the people leaving 22 hurt. Infuriated over the MLA’s act, irate people thrashed him severely.
Jagdev was taken to a Banpur hospital and then shifted to Bhubaneswar in a critical condition.
After recovery he was arrested upon discharge on March 22.
