Puri, Feb 9: The famous Padma Vesha of Lord Jagannath and His siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, in Shreemandir here will be held on coming Saturday. Preparations for this rare ritual have reached final stage.
According to tradition, the deities are adorned in Padma Vesha (Lotus Attire) on Wednesday or Saturday if comes between Magha Suklapaksha Pratipada and Shreepanchami tithi. After being decked in Padma Vesha, the deities go for a sleep. Thus, devotees get opportunity to see the Trinity in Padma Vesha the next day till completion of Mangal Alati.
As the Padma Vesha will be held on Saturday this year, the devotees are unlikely to see the Lords in the rare attire because the following day is a Sunday. Currently, the Shreemandir remains closed on Sundays for sanitization work.
Meanwhile, many devotees have demanded that the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration relax the norm and allow them to have darshan of rare attire of the Trinity.
