Bhubaneswar, August 28: The Odisha Government will facilitate transportation and accommodation facilities to the needy candidates appearing Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. There will be no restrictions on movement of students for appearing JEE scheduled from September 1 to September 6, annoucned Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy.
The Chief Secretary in a press conference here said around 37,000 students in Odisha will appear the exam in 26 centres across seven centres.
“There will no travel restrictions on the movement of JEE Main candidates, their parents and others. They can avail Government transport facilities without payment to come to examination centres in the State. District administration and police are given instructions to facilitate travel of candidates,” said Tripathy.
Tripaty said around 16,000 candidates will appear in various examination centres in Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
The Chief Secretary urged the applicants, who do not have their own transport to reach the examination centre or accommodation, to enlist their names with Government for availing the facilities. He also urged the JEE aspirants to share details on the number of nodal ITI principals by August 31 to ensure that necessary arrangement are made for their transportation and accommodation.
Hostels of Engineering colleges and polytechnics will be also used for providing accommodation to the students, Tripathy said.
On August 27, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over telephone and requested him for postponement of NEET and JEE Main Exam in view of COVID19 pandemic and severe flood situation in many parts of Odisha.
