The deceased has been identified as Saraswati Munda.
According to the information, the accused Rabi Munda’s friend Purusottam Naik of Khaliadihi village had visited for dinner at his place on July 24.
Later in the night, Bira found his wife in a compromising position with his friend Purusottam. Irked over this, he allegedly inserted a crowbar inside her private part leaving her critically injured.
In the following morning, she was rushed to a CHC in Pandapada and then shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHHD). However, the doctors at the hospital declared her dead.
The accused then brought her body and performed the last rites without informing anybody.
Upon getting information, the Ghatagaon IIC reached the spot and exhumed the body in the presence of a local tehshildar. The cops also arrested him after Bira confessed to the crime before the police.
“The body has been sent for post-mortem and the accused was forwarded to court. Further investigations into the matter is underway,” said a police officer.
