Bhadrak, Jan 12: The body of a married woman, who had gone missing since Monday evening, was found dead with her throat slit in Nuapokhari village under Bhandaripokari police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Radha Mohanty, wife of Narayan Mohanty of the village. The couple got married six years back and they have a five-year-old daughter.
As per reports, the villagers spotted the woman lying in a pool of blood along the road of the village early in the morning. They immediately informed the police in this regard.
On being informed, Bhandaripokari police reached the village and seized the body for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the husband of the woman is reportedly absconding.
The exact circumstance that lead to the murder of the woman is yet to be ascertained, police said.
On the other hand, Radha’s brother alleged that she had been tortured by her husband since long and was killed by the latter last night.
The police have registered a case and launched a probe into the matter.
