According to the information, rain triggered by the cyclone was witnessed in several parts of the district including the Dhamnagar and Bhandaripokhari blocks. The untimely rains have worried farmers as agriculture experts say paddy is in the maturing stage and too much rain at this juncture is harmful to the crop.
“I have grown paddy on farmland and was happy to harvest it. But, the rain has damaged the matured crop. I have taken loans for farming,” said a farmer.
“If the rain continues for two to three days, it will completely damage the crop. The rain triggered by the cyclone has damaged the paddy,” said another farmer.
