A private hospital in Bhubaneswar agreed to hand over the dead body of a COVID patient to the family on Monday after the Argus News aired the shocking matter.
Bhubaneswar, June 14: A private hospital here in Odisha agreed to hand over the dead body of a COVID patient to the family on Monday after the Argus News aired the shocking matter.
As per reports, one Amulya Parida of Nayagarh district was admitted to the private-run hospital in the State Capital after he was diagnosed with Covid-19. Sadly, he succumbed to the deadly virus this this morning while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The hospital authorities however denied to hand over the dead body to the family as the final bill was not settled, alleged the deceased's father.
The victim's family alleged that they had already deposited Rs 5 lakh at the hospital for the treatment of Amulya till date. After, Amulya’s death the doctors from the hospital did not release the body. Instead, the family was asked to pay Rs 2 lakh more and settle the final payment before they get the dead body for cremation.
Soon, the Argus News reached the spot and aired the news.
Minutes after the Argus News aired about the incident, the hospital authorities called the family members of the deceased person and agreed to hand over the body.
The aggrieved family members extended their gratitude to the Argus News for its timely support.
