Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadrawill return to Srimandir from their aunt’s abode-Gundicha temple- on the ninth day of the Rath Yatra.
Puri, Jul 20: The Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of Lord Jagannath and his siblings to the Srimandir after the annual Rath Yatra, began in absence of devotees here in Odisha in the early hours of Tuesday.
Several rituals such as Mangal Alati, Mailam Lagi , Tadapa Lagi, Rosa Homa , Abakasha Niti, Surjya Puja, Dwarapala Puja, Besha Sesha, Gopala Ballava and Sakala Dhupa were performed early this morning while the rituals of Senapata Lagi was underway when the report was filed.
The Idols of deities — Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra — will ceremoniously be installed in three majestic chariots parked outside Mausi Maa temple after the rituals of Bahuda Pahandi.
In accordance with rituals, the deities will return to Srimandir from their aunt’s abode-Gundicha temple- on the ninth day of the Rath Yatra.
Meanwhile the district administration of Puri has imposed curfew in the jurisdiction Puri town till 8 pm of July 21, to prohibit mass public congregation on the Grand Road/ rooftop and balconies of buildings adjoining Grand Road in the pilgrim town.
The administration also deployed special teams to keep track of offenders of the prohibitory order.
Only a limited number of servitors, police personnel, and temple and district officials have been authorised to participate on the holy occasion of Bahuda Yatra.
