Puri, Jul 15: Banakalagi niti or Shreemukha Shrungar(Face freshening) of Lord Jagannath will be conducted on the Adapa Mandap in Shree Gundicha Temple today. The ritual brings more glows to the Lord’s face.
While the important ritual is done Wednesday or Thursday every week in the Ratna Singhasan in Shreemandir usually, it will be done in Adapa Mandap today as the Trinity is on an annual sojourn to the Shree Gundicha Temple now.
A group of sevaks, called Datta Mohapatr, will conduct the ritual this afternoon. As it is a very secret ritual, the Darshan of the Trinity will remain stopped for all for four hours from 4 pm to 8 pm. It may be noted that Darshan is now fully restricted for devotees in view of Covid19 pandemic.
Natural colouring ingredients like Hingula, Kasturi, Haritala, Shubhrasnkha and Karpura will be used for Shreemukha Shrungar, according information.
