The convicted youth, Gurucharan Behera, had sexually arrested a 10-year-old minor girl near the Baripada town police station a few months back. Taking into account the statements of the witnesses and evidences collected by police, the court found Gurucharan guilty and awarded the punishment. Besides the fail term, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.
It may be noted that the POCSO courts at Cuttack and Phulbani had recently awarded life-long and 20 year jail term to two minor girl rape convicts recently.
