Nabarangpur, Jan 4: Villagers of Tentulikhunti in Nabarangpur district spent a sleepless night and are still in a state of fear as a wild bear strayed and moved in the village last night.
Villagers gathered and saw the bear moving in Mali Sahi’s Maa Tarini Temple premises at around 9 pm on Sunday night. The wild animal then moved to nearby Bhatara Sahi and then went away elsewhere.
“The bear could not enter the temple as it was locked. It was seen standing on its two rear legs and searching for food,” said villagers.
Though the bear didn’t cause any harm to any villager, still locals apprehend that the animal might return to village in search of food and attack them.
Notably, the incidents of bears entering villages under Tentulikhunti block area have been regular affair nowadays. However, no incident of bear attacking people has been reported yet.
