Addressing a Press meet, Mohapatra lamented saying that Odia people suffering from Covid at their workplaces in States like Maharashtra, Delhi and Gujarat are not getting beds and proper treatment. In serious cases, many have reportedly died failing to get proper treatment, he said.
“The State Government should immediately initiate efforts to help Odisha people suffering from Covid in other States. For this, the Government should declare the four Odisha Bhawans as 24-hour control rooms and issue a helpline number for the purpose,” demanded Mohapatra.
He too demanded that the number of Covid testing be increased to 1 lakh per day so that more patients can get benefit. “Due to lack of testing kits, the number of testing is not increasing. Thus, officers should take steps to buy more testing and PPE kits and raise the number of testing to 1 lakh per day,” said Mohapatra.
He too suggested to the Government to install checkpoints at all entry points to neighbouring West Bengal. He said more mobile vans should be introduced in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Bhadrak.
He, however, hailed the Government's initiation in supplying oxygen to other States that are in dire need now for treatment of Covid patients.
