The incident took place at around 8.30 pm while the girl identified as Rinu Dakua, who works in a shopping mall in the city was returning home after office hours on his Bullet motorcycle.
“A few yards before Dumuduma square two bike-borne miscreants started following me which I didn’t take serious initially. But they came close to me a few minutes later after I stopped my bike on the roadside and received a phone call. They snatched away my phone to drive away,” informed Rinu.
The victim first raised an alarm for public help and then chased the looters on her bike. She managed to hold the shirt collar of the pillion rider of the looter’ bike, while they were trying to take a U-turn on the road near Khandagiri square and slipped off her bike.
Despite sustaining injuries Rinu kept on holding the looter post which people reached out for help and nabbed him.
The Commissionerate Police took the Rinu to a nearby hospital for treatment later in the night.
While Rinu has won praise for her bravery, she has expressed concern over the growing loot incidents in Bhubaneswar.
