Bhubaneswar, Sep 16: A day after issuing star campaigners’ list, the BJD on Thursday organised a close-door meeting to make strategies to fight the ensuing September 30 Pipili by-poll.
The BJD has fielded Rudra Pratap Maharathy, son of former MLA Pradeep Maharathy whose death has necessitated the by-poll.
“Pradeep Maharathy was over-confident for which he had been winning the seat (Pipili Assembly constituency) by huge margin by votes. We are not over confident now. We are working hard to grab the seat by a margin of much more votes,” said senior BJD leader and Labour and ESI Minister Sushant Singh.
Singh, who attended the meeting, said the party would organise small election meetings from September 20 in the constituency area as per the advice of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The Chief Minister is very likely to address voters on virtual mode, he said.
Claiming that Pipili is a BJD bastion, another senior party MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said the party candidate will win the seat by a record-breaking margin this time.
