Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: The BJP once again slammed the State Government severely for co-branding of houses constructed under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) and demanded that only PMAY logo be put on the walls of these houses.
A team led by BJP State president Samir Mohanty met Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and handed over a memorandum to him in this regard.
“We have been demanding co-branding of PMAY and Biju Pucca Ghar be done away with forthwith as the houses are constructed under the Central scheme,” said Mohanty.
Stating that the Panchayati Raj Department had on December 21 written to all district Collectors to change the nameplates, Mohanty expressed unhappiness for the delay and wanted that contingent funds be used for changing the nameplates forthwith.
“Despite our repeated demands, the nameplates mentioning “Pra Aa Jo” (Abbreviation for Prime Minister Awas Yojana) in small Odia letters and Biju Pucca Ghar in big letters are found on walls of PMAY houses. Chief Minister’s assurance has also remained futile. We demand that co-branding is lifted altogether and only Prime Minister Awas Yojana highlighted,” urged Mohanty.
Among others, Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik and Deputy Leader Bishnu Sethi were present.
