Bhubaneswar, Mar 18: The BJP on Thursday said it would gherao the State Assembly on March 20 to press for action against all accused, including Law minister Pratap Jena, in the Mahanga double murder case at the earlierst.
“We had raised issues of false list of PMAY beneficiaries and deserving persons not getting houses under the Central scheme. Thereafter, the State Government installed boxes at panchayat and block offices to receive complaints and prepare new lists. But that didn’t materiarlise till today. The BJP started protest in Mahanga. BJP leader Sharada Pradhan and Kulamanid Baral took the lead. For this a double murder was committed there. We demanded all accused persons arrested. We met DGP and he assured that action will be taken in 10 days. But nothing such happened. This indicates how police are under political pressure in Odisha,” said party's State general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan.
Stating that PMAY is being executed perfectly in the neighbouring State, Harichandan alleged that not a single work order has been issued during the last one-and-half years in Odisha.
"Now, attempts are being made to implicate BJP leader Sharada Pradhan. We warn that this tendency be stopped; otherwise a befitting reply will be given. The Minister has been named as an accused in the Mahanga double murder case. He should come under the purview of investigation soon,” demanded Harichandan.
He said the BJP will gherao the Assembly if the demand isn’t met by then.
